S0702 Martha Lake Gateway Sewer and Water Improvement

What are we doing?

The Alderwood Water and Wastewater District has contracted with Titan Earthwork, LLC to construct the Martha Lake Gateway Sewer and Water Improvement Project. Completion of this project will help insure the community safe, reliable water service and provide sewer availability. Part of the area will be able to connect to sewers for the first time; other parcels will be able to increase reliability and reduce costs by connecting to gravity lines without using pumps. The project will also install a key new water main under Interstate 5.

What is happening now?

The Contractor is scheduled to perform surveys, locate existing utilities and mobilize equipment and materials on site this winter.

What you can expect?

Construction activities are scheduled to start on the west side of I-5 at Alder Way and proceeds easterly and northerly to the north side of 164th Street SW. Please see attached map.

Businesses, business patrons and residents in the project area, including Wal-Mart, Bank of America and adjoining businesses, Volunteers of America, Eldec Corporation and the Interurban Trail, will experience construction noise and vibration. Portions of Alder Way, 170th Street SW, 18th Place West, and 17th Avenue West will be impacted by temporary lane closures.

The Contractor will utilize underground tunneling to install the new water and sewer mains crossing under I-5 and the new sewer main crossing under 164th Street SW.
