S0702 Martha Lake Gateway Sewer and Water Improvement

What are we doing?

The Alderwood Water and Wastewater District has contracted with Titan Earthwork, LLC to construct the Martha Lake Gateway Sewer and Water Improvement Project. Completion of this project will help insure the community safe, reliable water service and provide sewer availability. Part of the area will be able to connect to sewers for the first time; other parcels will be able to increase reliability and reduce costs by connecting to gravity lines without using pumps. The project will also install a key new water main under Interstate 5.

What is happening now?

The Contractor has completed installation of the tunneled casing pipe under Interstate-5 and is currently moving forward with installation of water and sewer mains within the casing connecting the water and sewer system on the west and east side of Interstate-5.

What you can expect?

Construction activities are scheduled to finalize the installation of the water and sewer facilities and roadway restoration on the west side of Interstate-5 on 170th Street SW easterly from Alder Way and southerly on 20th Avenue W.

Much of the open trench water and sewer main have been installed on the east side of Interstate-5. The Contractor is continuing north through the Wal-Mart and Bank of America site followed by roadway and site restoration. Construction is scheduled to begin late July or early August for tunneling the sewer main crossing under 164th Street SW on the east side of Interstate-5.

Businesses, business patrons and residents in the project area, including Wal-Mart, Bank of America and adjoining businesses, Volunteers of America, Eldec Corporation and the Interurban Trail, will experience construction noise and vibration. Portions of Alder Way, 170th Street SW, 18th Place West, and 17th Avenue West will be impacted by temporary lane closures.
